Avoiding Mishaps with Your Posture

Beware!!! You may see yourself in these!!

These are the most common postures we present ourselves without knowing that we are doing it. But do you know that these common postures are the main contributing factors to our aches and pains besides stress?
For those who see themselves in any of the following, correct yourself now before it's too late...

Why are you hunching?

Keep your back straight to prevent aches and pains. For better protection of your low back, practice tummy tuck in (pulling your belly button in).

You can also use a raiser. It's easily available in the market, will save you tons of medical bills.

Hunching again?

This way is better. If long hours of this posture causes you discomfort, stop to stretch.
Not sure how to stretch at work? View our blog 'OFFICE STRETCH'...

Definitely not this way!                                              But, this way!

Remember not to slouch when you are sitting on a sofa

Instead, sit upright as shown in the picture above to keep your back free from pain

Keep your feet flat on the ground, use a pillow to support your back if you are unable to reach.

The sofa is meant for SITTING!! Not for sleeping!!

This way of drinking will strain your neck

So, be sure to keep your neck neutral!

These are some common postures that we adapt in activities of our daily living.
Keep in mind that small changes can make big differences.

SO WHY NOT START NOW?

Falls Prevention Program

Working with Seniors in Falls Prevention Program Part 2 - Balance Retraining Hi All! Working with seniors is enjoyable and truly rewarding too especially as they do show remarkable improvements with mild to moderate exercise activities. We, as a team, look forward to this part of our daily work very much. Seniors have  an increased risk of falls , owing to declines in muscle strength and mass with age, reduced perception of height, and impaired balance.  As such, a major part of our programme consists of supervised strength training exercises, balance and coordination activities and gait retraining to improve strength and function. To gauge their performance and for regular evaluation of functional status and muscle strength and power differences, we use several outcome measures. Assessment scales include the Berg Balance, Functional reach, timed walk over 6 meters, the TUG (Timed Up and Go) and self-paced stair ascent tests and muscle...
